My name is Hans Prins. I am a historian with an interest and love for local history. Leiden is my hometown, a quaint, idyllic and quiet city with an impressive history. Leiden was once one of the leading cities in the young Dutch Republic. The Pilgrims looked for and found refuge in the city of Leiden where Rembrandt was born just three years before the Pilgrims arrived in 1609. I can show you the sites and tell you the stories illustrating the beauty and history of Leiden.
The city of Leiden, bordering the river Rhine is also the center of the waterboard Rijnland. A bicycle tour just outside the city showing an architectional, historical landscape illustrating the impressive watermanagement of the Dutch is a treat.
